There is the term called Butterfly Effect. It is the idea of Edward N. Lorenz , the meteorologist of US, that one fluttering butterfly in Brazil could effect to thunder storm in New York , crossing the Pacific oceans. It indicates that the some behavior without intention could eventually have a far-reaching ripple effect to somewhere, somebody.
This idea still can be applied to environmental problems. Do you know that the Gorillas of African Continent are endangered due to short-term use cell phones, under the reason of cell phone subsidies or number portability? The key material of cell phone is called ‘Coltan' which is mining in Congo , Africa . As increase of cell phone manufacture, the value of coltan is treated as gold or diamonds. For this reason, coltan mine was established in Kahuzi-Biega National Park , so that the habitat of Gorilla was completely destroyed. However, this problem is not only matter of Gorillas.
Until today, Human-beings have reached great success with the use of abundant resources such as, fertile soil, pure water, clean air, and numerous types of natural resources. However, mother Earth and nature was rashly destructed by human-beings, in the name of convenience. This brought about extreme changes and crises to the Earth, such as resource exhaustion or species extinction. For a list of environmental disasters, it eventually became hard to assure the existence of human-beings.
Likewise, human-beings of today confront unprecedented environmental crisis and we have to do something, we cannot be spectators. Politicians, business, artists, scientist, religion, institutes, media, non-government workers - all sections of society have to work together for making better environmental policies, quality of life and environment management. Under the deep consideration of the nature, the human of today, and the human of next generation, human-beings all around the world have to work together for ecologically-safe environment restore and sustainable development. I am sure that your concerns and practical actions about environmental issues are the first step of protecting the Green Earth.
